New Leipzig is a city in Grant County, North Dakota, located in the southwestern part of the state. As of the 2020 census, the population was 221. The city was founded in 1910 by German immigrants and was named after the German city of Leipzig.
The economy of New Leipzig is largely based on agriculture, with crops such as wheat, barley, and sunflowers being grown in the surrounding areas. The city is also home to a small but thriving business community that includes grocery and hardware stores, cafes, and service-oriented businesses.
New Leipzig has several community events throughout the year, such as an annual summer festival, Halloween and Christmas events, and a community-wide garage sale. The city also has a park with picnic facilities and a playground, as well as a public swimming pool.
New Leipzig is located approximately 70 miles southwest of Bismarck, the state capital, and about 30 miles east of the Montana border.
